Chinese New Year is the celebration of a new beginning that dates back in ancient China 5000 years ago during the reign of the Yellow EMPEROR.
Based on the Gregorian calendar, the CHINESE NEW YEAR always falls on the new moon, either on the final week of January or the first week of February. Festivals which are held for fifteen days comprise of public performances such as dragon dances or lantern shows.
Many people flock to Buddhist Temples where they pray for good health and prosperity. Wearing red clothes during this festivity is customary as people give money in red envelopes to relatives and friends.
The Virgil Editorial Staff wishes you all a Happy Chinese New Year as we celebrate The Year of The Dragon. May our body be strong as a dragon, and our life be upright. We must always do good deeds and be compassionate and respectful towards one another.
Happy Dragon Year to All!
